UIC & Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation sign MoC on access to rail research

The International Union of Railways (UIC) and the Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation (ACRI) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on 19th September which will boost industry and government access to rail research on a global level.

On the 20th September the European Commission, the European Union Agency for Railways, the UIC and European rail sector organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will lead to greater cooperation on the deployment of ERTMS, the European Rail Traffic Management System.

The Southern African Region can be considered as including the countries of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. This region is close to the Indian Ocean and also comprises the Comoros States, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles. The UIC has collaborated with experts from the African region in a study called: ‘Revitalisation of Rail in Africa: Destination 2040’ which was supported by the African Union and endorsed at the 3rd African Transport Ministers meeting in Malabo in 2014…

Professor Andrew McNaughton appointed Chairman of the UIC Intercity & High Speed Committee

Following a call for candidates launched by the UIC management, Professor Andrew McNaughton, Technical Director of the HS2 Project (second high-speed line under project in the UK), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the UIC Intercity & High Speed Committee for the period 2016-2017.
