Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has signed a contract with Transport for London (TfL) to provide 57 additional BOMBARDIER ELECTROSTAR rail cars for the London Overground network. The order is part of Transport for London’s programme to increase passenger capacity on the successful London Overground network – the 57 new cars will be used to turn existing four-car trains into five-car versions. The new units will be supported under an existing maintenance contract.

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has signed a variation order to develop and supply important components for the next generation ICx high speed trains for Deutsche Bahn (DB AG) under a framework agreement with Siemens AG signed in May 2011. DB AG recently expanded its original order by an additional 170 coaches. The variation order of March 2013 is worth approximately 336 million euro ($440 million US) to Bombardier in addition to the original order.

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation will deliver 12 BOMBARDIER TWINDEXX Vario trains for commuter services to Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG), which won a Europe-wide tender to operate passenger services in the Main-Spessart region. The order placed at the end of March 2013 is valued at approximately 113 million euro ($ 145 million US) and is part of a framework agreement signed in December 2008. Under the agreement, DB AG has already ordered 290 variable double-deck coaches for long-distance and regional routes.

The consortium led by Bombardier Transportation, with Thales and Nokia Siemens Networks has won the contract to modernize the signalling of the 350 km long E65 railway line linking Warsaw and Gdynia. This contract has a value of €112 million (469 million PLN).

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation will deliver its globally proven INTERFLO 450 ERTMS Level 2 solution for the Legnica-Wroclaw-Opole section of Poland’s E30 line. The contract is part of the modernisation programme of the pan-European transport corridors which will ensure interoperability on railway lines in Poland. Bombardier’s third ERTMS Level 2 project in Poland, the new contract is valued at approximately 35 million PLN (8 million euro, $11 million US).

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation, leading a consortium with Belam Riga, has won a contract for the construction and upgrade of the signalling and associated infrastructure systems in the Bolderaja region of Latvia. Bombardier will deliver its INTERFLO 200 solution to Latvian Railways (LDz) on a section of the Bolderaja – Zasulauks line, which connects the capital city Riga with the Boldoraja and Riga harbour area. The total contract is valued at approximately 9.5 million LVL (13.6 million euro, $ 18.2 million US), with Bombardier’s share valued at approximately 3.7 million LVL (5.3 million euro, $ 7.1 million US).

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has secured an order from Southern and Porterbrook Leasing for 40 BOMBARDIER ELECTROSTAR cars that will operate on services in London and the South East. The order is valued at approximately GBP 60 million GBP (74 million euro, $98 million US) and is an option which has been exercised under an existing contract dated December 2011, when Bombardier received an order for 130 new ELECTROSTARs from Southern. These trains are currently in production at Bombardier’s Derby factory in the UK.

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation will deliver its globally proven ERTMS solution for the 340 km Warsaw to Gdynia section of Poland’s E65 line, linking the capital with the Baltic Sea. With Bombardier’s second major delivery of ERTMS technology in Poland the entire northern section of the Pan-European Rail Corridor VI will be interoperable, allowing trains from other countries to travel between Gdynia and the Czech border.

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation has signed a contract with Virgin Trains to continue maintaining its Super Voyager fleet that operates on the UK’s West Coast main line. The deal extends the existing agreement between Bombardier and Virgin to March 2016. The contract is valued at approximately GBP 106 million GBP (131 million euro, $170 million US).

Southern is pleased to announce two significant developments. Firstly, with the approval of the Department for Transport, it intends to exercise an existing option for 40 new Electrostar carriages from train manufacturer Bombardier, a run on to its 130 carriage order announced at the end of last year. Separately, Southern is developing proposals with the Department for a new procurement competition for 116 electric (dual voltage) new rolling stock vehicles, with an option for a further 100.
