BLS AG has placed an order with Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with Alstom Transport, to supply four additional Lötschberger multiple units. The contract is valued at 38 million CHF ($41 million US, 30 million euro), with Bombardier Transportation’s share amounting to 25 million CHF ($27 million US, 20 million euro). The order is an option to a contract signed in 2006, and brings the total number of Lötschberger trains ordered by BLS to 25. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between September and December 2012.

Bombardier Transportation acquired the remaining 60% of the shares in the joint venture Bombardier Transportation (ZWUS) Polska Sp. z o.o, from Polish Railways PKP S.A. and became the sole owner of the company. The acquisition was finalized today.

Bombardier Transportation has been awarded, at the end of December 2010, a further major contract in Latvia, for its BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 200 solution for the ‘Second Railway Track Construction, Skrivery – Krustpils’ project. The contract, with a value of 9.25 million euro ($ 12.3 million US), is awarded by a consortium of civil works companies in Latvia, led by Skonto Buve, for delivery to LDZ (Latvian Railways).

Bombardier Transportation received an additional order from Israel Railways (ISR) for the delivery of 72 double-deck coaches. This contract is part of a framework agreement concluded last October, which included a firm order for 78 coaches and foresees optional batches. The order value of this additional order amounts to approximately 115 million euro ($154 million US).

Bombardier Transportation announced today it has signed a contract with Trenitalia (Italian Railways) for the delivery of 50 very high speed trainsets V300ZEFIRO, a model of the BOMBARDIER ZEFIRO high speed trains family. The V300ZEFIRO (known as ETR 1000 in Italy) is developed in partnership with AnsaldoBreda, a subsidiary of the Finmeccanica group of Italy. The total contract is valued at 1,54 billion euro ($2.10 billion US). Bombardier’s share of the contract is valued at 652 million euro ($889 million US).

Yesterday, Bombardier Transportation handed over the 399th BOMBARDIER TRAXX AC locomotive to DB Schenker Rail at its Kassel site in Germany. The locomotive is part of an order from 1998 for the delivery of a total of 400 dual frequency AC locomotives.

Bombardier Transportation, together with two consortium partners, announced today that it has won an order to design, supply and install a 24 kilometer BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Monorail 300 system in Sao Paulo for Companhia do Metropolitano de Sao Paulo (CMSP / Sao Paulo Metro). The total value of the contract is 2.46 billion reals (1.07 billion euro, $1.44 billion US) ((1)). Bombardier’s share of the design-build contract is 1.40 billion reals (606 million euro, $816 million US) (1).

Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with Site S.p.A., has won a second major order in Algeria, to deliver the BOMBARDIER* INTERFLO* 250 ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) Level 1 solution for the new Saida-Moulay Slissen line. The contract, with a value for Bombardier of 12 million euro ($15 million US) and a total value of 19 million euro ($24 million US) is awarded by Astaldi S.p.A. (an Italian leader in civil works) acting as general contractor for the project, which will be delivered to the Algerian State Railways.
