Trenitalia (Italian Railways) has awarded Bombardier Transportation a new order to supply an additional 50 of its economical and proven E464 electric locomotives, exercising an option to the contract signed in 2009 for the supply of 100 units. Valued at approximately 128 million euro ($186 million US), the contract is a further landmark for Bombardier locomotives in Italy. With this contract, Trenitalia has placed orders for a total of 688 E464 locomotives, 570 of which are already in successful commercial service. Delivery of the locomotives is scheduled for between 2012 and 2013. (more…)

Bombardier Transportation is enhancing its competence centre for bogies in Siegen with a new wheel set centre. The production of wheel sets on site ensures an optimised and simplified logistics chain, quality optimisations and a greater independence from external suppliers and changes in the market. In the first operating year, around 1,700 wheel sets will be produced and this should rise to 10,000 per year by 2013. The set up was achieved by the Siegen site team in only 10 months; the construction of the new workshop in Dreis-Tiefenbach began in June 2010; operation started on April 1, 2011.

Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has received an order from the Government of South Australia, for the supply and maintenance of 22 Bombardier 25kV 3 car electric trains. The contract is valued at approximately 269 million AUD (197 million euro, $278 million US).

Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has received an order from Metrolinx for the supply of 50 BOMBARDIER BiLevel commuter rail cars to be delivered to GO Transit in Toronto. The contract for the 50 rail cars is valued at approximately $125 million CDN ($128 million US, 93 million euro).

Bombardier Transportation has received an order from Västtrafik for six new three-car BOMBARDIER REGINA high speed trains, thus increasing its fleet to a total of 26 trains. The contract is valued at 73 million euro (640 million SEK, $101 million US). Delivery will take place during 2013.
