Bombardier awarded first ERTMS contract in Africa

Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with Site S.p.A., has won a second major order in Algeria, to deliver the BOMBARDIER* INTERFLO* 250 ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) Level 1 solution for the new Saida-Moulay Slissen line. The contract, with a value for Bombardier of 12 million euro ($15 million US) and a total value of 19 million euro ($24 million US) is awarded by Astaldi S.p.A. (an Italian leader in civil works) acting as general contractor for the project, which will be delivered to the Algerian State Railways.

Bombardier awarded second contract from NJ TRANSIT

Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has received an order for 100 MultiLevel commuter rail cars from the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ TRANSIT). The contract is valued at approximately $267 million US (210 million euro) and includes options for up to 79 additional vehicles. (more…)

Bombardier delivers landmark technology for Sweden high speed line

Bombardier will join Botniabanan AB tomorrow in celebrating the inauguration of the new high speed Botnia Line in Sweden – the first rail line in the Nordic area to be operating with ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 functionality. Bombardier has supplied its BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 450 rail control system for the ground-breaking new line, going into operation on the north-east coast of Sweden, running from Nyland to Gimonäs.

Bombardier’s Gautrain passenger numbers surpass all expectations in South Africa

Bombardier Sifang Awarded Fourth Contract for 40 Additional CRH1 High-Speed Trains in China

Bombardier Transportation announced today that its Chinese joint venture, Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation Ltd. (BST), has received an order for 40 additional CRH1 high-speed trainsets from the Chinese Ministry of Railways (MOR) valued at approximately 5.2 billion CNY (591 million euros, $761 million US) [1]. Bombardier’s share of the contract is valued at approximately 2.5 billion CNY (289 million euros, $373 million US) [1]. BST is a joint venture between Bombardier and CSR Sifang Rolling Stock Co., Ltd..

The demand for capacity is on the increase across all areas of transportation. Due to its flexibility as a mass transportation system and its environmental performance, rail transport in particular is gaining in significance. As a consequence, many countries are making major investments to meet future demand and for systems to become and remain competitive. Yet whilst this development appears very positive for the sector, it also poses significant problems, especially in densely populated European countries where new lines cannot be easily built and the capacity limitations of existing lines are already heavily exploited. Bombardier awarded landmark ERTMS contract in Poland
