Poul Frøsig, UIC Project Manager, ERTMS / ETCS and ERTMS Regional Projects

Poul Frøsig has been Project Manager for UIC/ERRI ETCS project since 1992 and since 1998 including the management of the UIC ERTMS Low Cost project as well. In 2002 part of the UIC Low Cost project was renamed in ERTMS Regional.

Dr.-Ing. habil. Oldrich Polach joined railway industry in 1993 after he finished his doctoral thesis and obtained his postdoctoral lecture qualification. Since 2001, he is supervising dynamics specialists in Bombardier Transportation, Division Bogies. He teaches Railway Vehicle Dynamics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich and at the Technical University in Berlin.

Dr. Bernhard Lichtberger, Head of Research & Testing Department and Technical Director, Plasser & Theurer

Dr. Bernhard Lichtberger studied Technical Physics at the Kepler University in Linz, graduation as Dipl.-Ing. in 1984. He was with VOEST ALPINE up to 1987 in industrial plant construction and as project manager for the automation of a steelworks in Kaohshiung, Taiwan.

Ignacio Barrón de Angoiti, Chargé de Mission Grande Vitesse, UIC

Ignacio Barrón de Angoiti graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona in 1982. In 1993 he completed a MBA at IESE Business School, Madrid. From 1981 to 1997 he worked in many roles at RENFE (Spanish Railways). These include Chief of Technical Studies at the Direction of Communications between 1987 and 1990 and Operation Manager in High Speed Stations (Madrid - Atocha) between 1991 and 1994.

Prof. Coenraad Esveld, Professor of Railway Engineering, Delft University of Technology

After his graduation Prof. Esveld held various positions in the Permanent Way Department of Netherlands Railways. In 1990 he left the railways and started his consulting company Esveld Consulting Services.

Prof. Andrew McNaughton, Chief Engineer, High Speed Two Ltd

Andrew McNaughton is Chief Engineer of High Speed Two Ltd, and Special Professor of Rail Engineering at Nottingham University. He has been engaged in railway engineering and management since 1973. His first twenty years in British Rail were engaged in maintenance, renewal and upgrade of both main line and rural railways, including leading the introduction of steel sleeper relaying and development of new maintenance techniques.
