TENSAR

TENSAR GEOGRIDS OFFER SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR RAIL TRACKBED AND STRUCTURE STABILITY

TENSAR International has led the world in the design and manufacture of trackbed reinforcement, ground stabilisation and soil reinforcement solutions since the early 1980s. Continuous development and innovation of geogrids and geotextiles, including many patented designs, have led to their use in railways across Europe and the world, as well as road, bridge, embankment, runway and many other applications.

Tensar ground stabilisation and reinforcement solutions are backed by EU and international certification, in-situ performance testing and certification by major rail authorities internationally. Tensar’s technical design solutions enable installation of ballast and sub-ballast to meet specified bearing capacity requirements. Millions of square metres of trackbed ballast and sub-ballast have been stabilised with improved bearing capacity throughout Europe.

As well as improving bearing capacity over poor ground, use of Tensar geogrids has been shown to reduce trackbed maintenance time and cost requirements by a factor of up to 3, with long term durability and stability performance.

In addition to reinforcement in poor ground conditions, use of Tensar geogrids has been shown to reduce differential settlement and trackbed maintenance requirements across transition zones, where trackbed crosses over variable stiffness substructures such as at underbridges , road crossings, tunnel inverts and through rail stations. Tensar geogrids offer a sustainable approach through efficient material usage by extending ballast life, reducing sub-ballast thickness and resulting in less demand for quarried new material, waste disposal and transportation

Further railway applications for Tensar uniaxial, biaxial and TriAx™ geogrids include the stabilisation of temporary access roads, working platforms for cranes and piling rigs and embankment foundations, where the 1m deep Tensar Geocell mattress can provide stability and help control over poor ground. Tensar reinforced soil trackside structures include retaining walls, noise barriers, bridge abutments and steep slopes which generally offer quicker, cheaper and more environmentally sympathetic solutions compared with more traditional methods.

Voith

Voith Railservices – Your Partner in Rolling Stock Maintenance

Following the ongoing liberalisation of the European railway markets an increasing demand for technical maintenance of rolling stock fleets could be observed during the last years. Accordingly, the Voith Group as a worldwide player combined its railway know-how with the experience in maintenance services from other industries into a new service company and established Voith Railservices in the year 2005.

The mission of Voith Railservices is to provide our customers with a fleet of reliable and safe vehicles and we offer tailored workpackages and processes that fully integrate into our customers` operation. This full-service approach allows for highest availability levels of the fleet and lets the railway operators focus on their core business: Passenger transportation.

Starting with a 15 year full-service contract awarded in the Netherlands in 2006, Voith Railservices today services more than 130 EMUs and DMUs at different locations in Europe with longterm contracts. In order to provide best quality results, we constantly monitor and optimise our processes and generate vehicle specific databases that help us to evaluate the vehicle condition on a daily bases and to forecast maintenance activities in due time.

Our core business is to provide daily maintenance services including all support processes e.g. spare parts, logistics, documentation, maitenance engineering, reports and warranty management. In addition we offer separate workpackages e.g. major overhauls, exterior cleaning, shunting services, fill-ups, and upgrades.

Using the worlwide Voith network we are able to combine local know-how with our profound rail-specific experience and are, thus, able to build up new activities on short notice nearly everywhere in the world.
