In an effort to increase transparency in rail safety incident reporting in the EU and to share information among rail operators and manufacturers, the European Union Agency for Railways has launched a Safety Alert IT tool (SAIT) – the first deliverable of the Agency in the framework of the Technical Pillar of the Fourth Railway Package.
Launching at the rail industry’s leading trade fair, InnoTrans, SAIT will facilitate timely sharing of information on significant risks relating to technical equipment, supporting the market’s players to take immediate action to avoid accidents.
Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director of the Agency said: “In a shared European railway system, with a diverse set of players, transparency and shared lessons in incident reporting are vital for making Europe the world leader in rail safety. It is an important building block for creating a positive safety culture in Europe.”
