The longest floor system ever made
23 May 2016 • Author: SMTC
SMTC continue their international growth and recently delivered the first train set of Crossrail floor system to Bombardier Transportation in Derby, UK.
Combining lightweight with stiffness, these floor panels are over 10 meters long. Over SMTC’s 400,000m² of floor in operation around the world, Crossrail floors will be the biggest ever manufactured and will allow a very fast assembly onto the car-body of the train. The required production capacity is met thanks to significant investments in new tooling, especially with a rotating jig, handling equipment and bespoke transportation racks. It is a very high potential project for SMTC, we thank Bombardier Transportation for their trust and are very happy to move forward together.
