Vectron receives authorization for Hungary

The Hungarian National Transport Authority Nemzeti Közledekesi Hatosag (NKZ) granted the first authorization for a Vectron locomotive – the AC version with a rated power of 6,400 kilowatts, designed for a top speed of 200 kilometres per hour. This version is the first from the Vectron platform to receive authorization in Hungary.
In order to qualify for national authorization, the Vectron required successful Europe-wide certification in compliance with the valid Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI). This EU certificate reduces the required extent of national testing within EU states. Test runs necessary for authorization in Hungary have been performed in summer 2013.
A distinguishing feature of the Vectron platform is the compatibility of certain elements of other vehicle versions with the authorized locomotive. For an AC or multi-system locomotive, other customer-specific versions can be certified through a delta review based on the first prototype that has now been granted authorization.
Vectron locomotives have already received authorizations for Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania and Sweden.
