Port of Bordeaux Authority has selected Eurotunnel rail freight subsidiary, Europorte (Socorail), to manage the operations and maintenance of its railway infrastructure for a period of 8 years.

The Port of Bordeaux, situated in the largest river estuary in Europe, has a privileged position on the Atlantic coast of France.

Playing a major role in the economic development of the region, the Port of Bordeaux is equipped with 7 terminals, two of which, at Bassens and le Verdon, have railway infrastructures.

The site at Bassens has 10.24km of rail track and 25 sidings, and the site at le Verdon has 11km of track and 14 sidings, making a total infrastructure of 20km.

Europorte will place a dedicated team at the Port of Bordeaux. The partnership will bring real time information on the use of the track and on the state of the network.

Railway transport is a critical element of competitive port performance. Europorte had already won contracts at ports in Dunkirk, Nantes Saint-Nazaire, Le Havre, Rouen and Paris.
